Gold Rights Respecting School

5 November 2024

As we reach the end of this first half term, we are excited to share some of the wonderful achievements we've had so far. We're incredibly proud to have gained the prestigious Music Mark; we have delivered 7 weeks of engaging forest lessons, and introduced whole-school gardening sessions. These experiences have enriched our students' learning and wellbeing. The most amazing news is achieving the Gold Rights Respecting Award! check out our shinning new logo above. Looking ahead, we're thrilled to announce that we are beginning our journey towards becoming an OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) school, emphasising the importance of play in our children’s' development

On Wednesday, 23rd October, Citizens UK organised a call to action in Parliament Square to highlight the plight of 150,000 children living in temporary accommodation in the UK. This is part of a day of action on housing and homelessness as part of the Citizens UK’s General Election 2024 manifesto. We went along with our learning Ambassadors and as Headteacher, I addresses the gathered MPs to voice our concerns and ask for this very important issue to spoken about in the house.

Our Forest School Offer

30 September 2024

We are now able to offer a full Forest School curriculum for the whole school ! Forest School is a unique outdoor learning experience that allows children to connect with nature while developing practical skills, confidence and teamwork. It offers an educational approach where children learn through play, exploration, and hands-on activities in a natural environment. At Forest School, children engage in a variety of activities such as learning bushcraft skills, using tools safely, storytelling, and nature-based crafts. It’s a fantastic way for children to develop new skills and foster a love for the outdoors!

Music at Rushey Green

23 September 2024

We have 60 children learning instruments this term under the excellent tuition of our instrument teachers from the Lewisham Music services. The choir also sang a selection of songs through the eras at the O2 in February. Our upper school choir sang beautifully at the service with an adult choir this month, it was well attended by parents and family from Rushey Green. The Year 2 choir will sing at the Turning of the year Concert at the Blackheath Halls and the whole school choir will sing at the St Laurence luncheon club in December for the elderly folk's Christmas lunch and at the Mayor's Christmas service.
